Jasper — Arrowhead Engineered Products (Arrowhead) announced Jasper-based Stens would close later this year and be incorporated into the newly constructed distribution warehouse in Portland, Tennessee.
According to Arrowhead, the transfer will likely be complete by the early fall of 2023. The Blaine, Minn. company acquired Stens in December 2016.
The move impacts 150 employees at Stens.
“We are providing employees with at least six months notice as we know this is significant news that will affect our employees and their families,” said Rebecca Shaffer, Senior Director of Communications with Arrowhead. “Our Jasper workforce is a tremendous one with a great work ethic. We have many employees with long tenures, and we value every one of them and want to take care of them. We’re offering relocation to our warehouse employees and want as many people as possible to move with us to Portland. We’ve also provided some of our employees the ability to stay in Jasper and work remotely.”
The warehouse staff is around 70, and they are all being offered relocation, according to the company. The remaining office staff will go fully remote.
This move resulted from an extensive review of our North American facility and distribution network, revealing that a new mega-facility was needed to serve the company’s growing customer base and support and expand the hub and spoke distribution model.
The newly constructed 540,000-square-foot warehouse and distribution center in Portland will create nearly 400 full-time job opportunities at the new facility when it opens in July 2023.
“This move expands on our hub and spoke distribution model that provides the flexibility, 1–2-day shipping delivery times and tailored service our customers enjoy,” said Jason Flagstad, Arrowhead’s executive vice president of operations and IT in North America. “We are excited to join the Portland community and look forward to bringing jobs and investment to the state.”
The new facility, designed and built for operational efficiency, will provide employees with modern workspaces and leading-edge logistics technology, including advanced storage and conveyance systems and cross-docking capabilities. At the facility, employees will pick, pack and ship customers’ aftermarket parts to maintain, repair and enhance power sports vehicles, golf cars and outdoor power, agricultural and industrial equipment.
The addition of the new Portland, Tennessee, warehouse and distribution center enables Arrowhead to serve its growing customer base. The company will continue to ship products with affordable rates and speedy delivery with its North American fulfillment and distribution center network that consists of these 22 locations:

Urbandale, Iowa Grand Prairie, Texas Jim and Charles Stenftenagel opened Stens in a one-room garage servicing outdoor power equipment in the 1979s. By 1983, Stens shifted its focus to the replacement parts market. After the Ariens Company purchased Stens, they grew it to eight distribution centers across the U.S. and moved into the new distribution center and headquarters on Hospitality Drive.
The building housing the current Stens headquarters and warehouse on Hospitality Drive in Jasper will revert back to the owner at the end of the lease in December.
